I have a son who wants to fly Blackhawk helicopters and fighter jets.
He wants to shoot big guns and jump out of airplanes.
He wants to protect our country.
My uncle was in the Navy. He was a bombs specialist who disassembled bombs on a small island. Grandfather was in the Navy too. So was my husband. My father-in-law was a Marine. He served in Vietnam and Korea. We have a friend in Afganistan right now who trains military police, both American and Afgan. My husbands side of the family is filled with special forces guys, career military men and retired military men and women.
It's in his blood.
This weekend, while you are at the lake, camping, canoeing, fishing, or just chilling with your family over the grill, remember what it is really about.
Remember the people who ran toward the enemy so we wouldn't have to run away.
Remember those who died to protect us and those who are living to protect us to this day.
The bad guys won't ever stop. Why should we?
Here's to all those who work hard to make us safe.
Have a safe and beautiful weekend!
